Manipur: JNIMS accident and trauma centre shut for 48 hours

The JNIMS hospital accident and trauma centre (ATC) has been shut for 48 hours after a patient brought to the centre tested positive along with his son on Monday.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Institute Medical of Science (JNIMS) hospital accident and trauma centre (ATC) has been closed for 48 hours after a patient, who was brought to the centre, tested positive along with his son on Monday, official sources said.

JNIMS Medical Superintendent professor T.Rankit SIngh said in a release that a 60-year-old man from Lilong visited ATC, JNIMS on Sunday night and he was under observation at room number 21, ATC. The patient tested positive on Truenat testing this afternoon and his son also tested positive in the evening.

Both the COVID-19 positive cases have been shifted to JNIMS COVID care ward, hospital sources said

Following the report, the medical superintendent ordered closure of ATC JNIMs hospital immediately for 48 hours as a precautionery measures for other patients and healthcare workers. The release stated that proper sanitization measures were immediately taken up in the ATC and other hospital premises.

Ranjit Singh also instructed the department of Community Medicine, JNIMS to immediately take contact tracing measures inside the hospital. Emergency facilities with limited services to be rendered at the first floor OPD block as temporary measures, the release added.
