India's COVID-19 tally reaches 14,83,156

The total number of recovered cases climbed to 9,52,743, taking the recovery rate to 64.24 per cent while the death toll rose to 33,425 with the report of 654 more deaths, pushing the fatality-rate to 2.25 per cent.

India's COVID-19 confirmed cases have reached 14,83,156 and active cases 4,96,988, with a single-day spike of 47,703 positive cases in a span of 24 hours till Tuesday morning, according to the Union Health Ministry.

The number of recovered cases climbed to 9,52,743, taking the recovery rate to 64.24 per cent while the death toll rose to 33,425 with the report of 654 more deaths, pushing the fatality-rate to 2.25 per cent.

Of the 654 new fatalities, seven are from Assam, four from Tripura, and one each from Nagaland and Sikkim. The rest are 227 from Maharashtra, 77 from Tamil Nadu, 75 from Karnataka, 49 from Andhra Pradesh, 39 from West Bengal, 30 from Uttar Pradesh, 26 from Delhi, 22 from Gujarat, 17 from Telangana, 12 from Punjab, 10 from Rajasthan, nine each from Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, seven from Odisha, five from Haryana, four from Jharkhand, three each from Puducherry and Uttarakhand, two each from Himachal Pradesh and Kerala, and one each from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh and Goa.

Of the nationwide total number of fatalities, Assam has reported 86 deaths, Tripura 17, Meghalaya and Nagaland five each, Arunachal Pradesh three and Sikkim one death till date, according to the ministry’s data.

Maharashtra remains the state with highest death toll at 13,883, followed by Delhi -3,853, Tamil Nadu - 3,571, Gujarat - 2,348, Karnataka - 1,953, Uttar Pradesh - 1,456, West Bengal - 1,411, Andhra Pradesh - 1,090, Madhya Pradesh – 820, Rajasthan -631 and Telangana - 480.
