Sample tests for Coronavirus were taken for 150 people in Churachandpur district on Friday after a lab technician of the Advanced Diagnostic Center, IB road in the district was tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.
Intensified contact tracing is being conducted by the district administration after the lab technician was confirmed positive. A BSF Jawan who tested positive for COVID-19 had visited Advanced Diagnostic Center, IB road, on July 22.
The area has been declared as a containment zone and all the clinics in the area around the district hospital were sealed off. The tests were made today at Hiangtam Lamka public ground and at Saikot Government HS. Those who visited the advanced diagnostic centre from July 11 to 20 were tested with the results expected by July 25.
Meanwhile, the total lockdown in Churachandpur district announced by the government was strictly observed with very few commuters and all shops were closed and closely monitored by the police, particularly at the main Tiddim road and main market area.
There were no signs of people trying to sell their goods in the corners of streets which are a common sight in the past.
In view of the total lockdown, DIG Range III Kamei Angam Romanus, today visited Churachandpur to take stock of the situation where he along with the SP of Churachandpur visited the roadways and intersections of the town.
