Nagaland: Seven-day total lockdown in Kohima

Kohima Deputy Commissioner Gregory Thejawelie informed that total lockdown of the Kohima Municipal Area under Kohima Sadar Jurisdiction has been promulgated for seven days from July 25 till July 31.

Kohima Deputy Commissioner Gregory Thejawelie has informed that total lockdown of the Kohima Municipal Area under Kohima Sadar Jurisdiction has been promulgated for seven days from July 25 till July 31.

The decision was taken in an emergency meeting of the District Task Force (DTF) Kohima on July 23.   

The total lockdown has been imposed to enhance active surveillance by the CMO Co-ordination Team Kohima and comprehensive contact tracing, early detection of suspected cases and isolation measures to control the spread of COVID-19 infection, the DC informed. 

However, activities related to essential services will be exempted from the purview of the lockdown. Further, in view of the Sixth Session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly scheduled to be held on July 30, all assembly members, AHODs/HODs, assembly officials and others involved/detailed for the session are also exempted.

Meanwhile, Dimapur has also been brought under total lockdown from July 26 to August 2, according to reports..

What's prohibited during the total lockdown period:

1. All public movement is prohibited, except on rare medical emergencies.

2. All shops are to strictly remain closed during the total lockdown period, except for pharmacies outside the sealed area.

3. All religious places should remain closed. Religious services and congregations are strictly prohibited.

4. Movement of all commercial and private vehicles are prohibited, except for medical emergencies.

5. Gathering of people at public places within the residential areas in wardcColonies/villages is prohibited.

6. Marriages are not allowed during this total lockdown period.

7. Funeral/last rites related gatherings shall ensure social distancing and the maximum number of people allowed shall not exceed more than 20 people.

8. Inter-state, Inter-district and inter-village movement is restricted. However, movement of medical emergency cases and essential goods and services with proper safety measures in place will be allowed.
