Manipuris stranded in Vadodara return in special train

All the returnees were screened at the Jiribam Railway Station.

A special train from Vadodara ferrying stranded Manipuris due to the nationwide lockdown imposed to contain COVID-19 pandemic reached Jiribam Railway Station at 4.42 pm on Monday.

Eighteen passengers of Ukhrul, 32 passengers of Churachandpur and Pherzawl district and 10 passengers of Tamenglong district left for their respective districts in State Transport department buses. Twenty five passengers of Senapati district, 29 passengers of Chandel district and 68 passengers of Kakching district also left Jiribam for their respective districts. 50 passengers of Bishnupur district, 23 passengers of Kangpokpi district and 111 passengers of Thoubal district left Jiribam.

Ninety nine passengers for Imphal East and Kamjong,132 passengers of Imphal West and Tengnoupal and 14 passengers of Noney district also left Jiribam.

All the returnees were screened at the Jiribam Railway Station. Under the supervision of Jiribam district administration, all the returnees boarded the buses after undergoing necessary screening process and other mandatory procedures.

The stranded residents reaching the state today will remain in isolation at community quarantine centres for 14 days.
