A one-day free medical camp for hearing aid fitment cum distribution camp under ADIP scheme was organised at community hall of Maibam Chaothoi Singh Memorial, Singjamei Thongam Leikai, Imphal West in presence of speaker Y Khemchand on Thursday.
More than 250 persons, especially elderly persons who have issues regarding hearing, were diagnosed during the camp.
The programme was organised by Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (AYJNISH) (D) Regional Centre, Bhubaneswar, Odisha under the aegis of DEPwD, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
Speaking on the sideline of the camp, speaker Y Khemchand who is also the local MLA expressed gratitude for organising such free medical camp especially related to hearing issues. He said for every person the power of hearing gradually decreases with the aging. Hearing loss has been one of the difficulties that elderly persons face besides other health issues, he added.
Assistant director, AYJNISH (D) Regional Centre, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Dr Lanu Wanboy Aimol conveyed the objectives for organising the one-day free medical camp related to ENT.
During the camp, 250 hearing aids machines were also distributed especially to the elderly persons besides conducting free ENT check-ups.
