National People’s Party (NPP) national president Conrad K Sangma expressed strong condemnations against the alleged attack on NPP workers by other political party workers at Keishamthong assembly constituency and the attempt made to take down the NPP party flag at Mayang Imphal.

“I do not understand these kinds of politics played by certain political parties. Is this what these MLAs and political parties want to teach the youth? Is this the way that they want to run a state and the country; has politics stooped to such levels? This is completely unacceptable,” he expressed.

He condemned those parties which are involved in such politics. “NPP is the party that believes in 'positive politics' and it will pave a new path that shows it is different from other political parties which are involved in violence," said Sangma.

“It is the duty of the political parties to show a positive way instead of resorting to violence. NPP has been prioritising the youth, women and indigenous people while bringing progress. In the upcoming Manipur legislative assembly election NPP will be the single largest party with the support from the people of Manipur,” he asserted.

Intending candidate and MLA of Keishamthong assembly constituency L Jayentakumar said some workers of other political parties under the influence of alcohol came and attacked the workers of NPP.

He said that there are differences between ‘power’ and ‘authority’, and no one is above law which the people who are involved while governing the State should be aware of. Those who are abusing power by thinking that they are above the law can be punished by the power of the public, he added.

Intending candidate of Singjamei assembly constituency Oinam Romen said that an NPP government will arrive in the state in the coming state legislative assembly election, and he urged the people of the assembly constituency to give him a chance to be a part of the NPP government.

Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar; state president of NPP N Kayisii and other NPP intending candidates of other assembly constituencies attended the programme as dignitaries.
