PLA, MNPF claim responsibility for ambush on 46 Assam Rifles convoy in Manipur

“The cadres of PLA and MNPF who carried out the attack had no information that the commanding officer’s wife and son were in the convoy. Indian security forces should never travel with their families at a place which has been declared as a ‘disturbed area’ by the Indian Government,” a joint release stated.

The proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) on Saturday stated that the ambush on the 46 Assam Rifles convoy at Sehken village under Behiang Police Station in Churachandpur district, was carried out by a combined force of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF).

During the attack, six AR personnel, including Commanding Officer 46 AR Colonel Viplav Tripathi were killed while several others were injured, stated a joint release issued by deputy secretary, RPF Publicity Roben Khuman and assistant secretary Publicity MNPF Thomas Numai.

For launching the attack on 46 AR by PLA and MNPG, the chief of army staff from the War Office commended those who planned the mission, carried out the attack and those who provided assistance, it added.
