Manipur's daily COVID-19 tally surges to 78

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 30 and 23 cases respectively.

Manipur on Thursday recorded 78 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,24,328 while the death toll mounted to 1,941 with one more fatality, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 4.2 per cent. 

The new COVID-19 positive cases were among the 1,845 test results received on Thursday. Manipur has so far conducted 13,85,591 COVID-19 tests.

The single COVID-19 fatality recorded on Thursday was from Imphal East. The deceased had co-morbidities and was not vaccinated, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 30 and 23 cases respectively. Seventeen cases were reported from Churachandpur, two each from Senapati and Thoubal, and one each from Bishnupur, Chandel, Kakching and Ukhrul.

The state also recorded 40 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,21,626. The recovery rate is 97.83 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 761 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 292 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 25 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 20,33,082 (first dose: 12,56,916 second dose: 7,76,163).
