The former Ukhrul Autonomous district council members while appreciating the suspension order for direct recruitment under six autonomous district councils asked Chief Minister N Biren Singh to prove whether he is committed to his ‘Chingtam Amatani’ slogan if he truly meant it.
In a press conference held in Ukhrul on Sunday evening, the former Ukhrul Autonomous district council members expressed that the recruitment has to be cancelled if he is truly working to cement the relationship between the hills and the valley.
“At the time when there are no popular elected members of ADCs, chief minister's Biren led- government advertising recruitment for district councils with scores of eligibility criteria is condemnable for the simple reason that Hill Area Committee (HAC) had urged the government to conduct district council’s election on time. The ruling government instead had gone all out on the recruitment as if it is a much needed affair. This overt exercise is uncalled for,” the former Ukhrul ADC members stated.
Rather than holding early elections to six ADCs, Biren government is found to be engaged in canvassing vote in the hill and valley districts. “Should the need arise we would take legal help until justice is delivered,” they warned.
They further stated that ADC election should come first before direct recruitment is taken up.
UADC further alleged that certain elements are found to be openly lobbying for the vacant posts in the open market with an amount running from Rs 10- 15 lakh, while claiming that they have proof of these allegations.
It may be mentioned that the Manipur government had dissolved the representative of ADCs in November 2020. It may be stated that TA and Hills, government of Manipur in its letter issued on Saturday to the CEO of six ADCs had stated that direct recruitment of 750 vacant posts under six ADC had been suspended until further orders.
