Manipur on Wednesday recorded 135 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,22,363 while the death toll mounted to 1,889 with two more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 5.1 per cent.
The two COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Wednesday are from Imphal East and Ukhrul. Both of them had co-morbidities and were not vaccinated, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 80 and 31 positive cases respectively. Eleven cases were reported from Ukhrul, four from Bishnupur, three from Thoubal, Two from Kangpokpi and one each from Kakching, Senapati, Tamenglong and Tengnoupal were also reported.
All precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.
The state also recorded 107 recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,19,015.
The recovery rate is 97.26 per cent, the release added. Manipur now has 1,459 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.
Meanwhile, a total of 858 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 180 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.
As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 17,94,905 (first dose: 12,33,108 second dose: 5,61,797).
According to the release, there are 446 vacant general beds and 101 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in seven hospitals of Manipur.
