Security forces gun down four KNLA cadres in Manipur's Kangpokpi district

As per the PRO (Defence Wing), acting on specific information about the presence of UG camp in the area, multiple columns under spear corps launched a joint operation starting Saturday to flush out the militants.

Security forces reportedly gunned down at least four cadres of the Kuki National Liberation Army (KNLA), a non-SoO group, in Kangpokpi district early Sunday morning.

According to official sources, the incident occurred near Hingojang village under the jurisdiction of Maphou Dam police station.

As per the PRO (Defence Wing), acting on specific information about the presence of UG camp in the area, multiple columns under spear corps launched a joint operation starting Saturday to flush out the militants.

On Saturday, the combined team encountered around 12 armed militants resulting in a heavy exchange of firefights.

In the ensuing firefight, four armed persons were confirmed killed while the rest managed to escape, said the PRO.

It has been confirmed that the slain militants were members of KNLA, a non-SoO group. However, there was no report of any casualty on the side of the security forces. The operation is reportedly still underway till the filing of this report.

It is learned that a team of police lead by the OC concerned rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
