COVID-19 claims five more lives in Manipur, death toll reaches 1,852

As many as 216 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur.

Manipur's COVID-19 death toll on Tuesday mounted to 1,852 with five more fatalities while 216 more persons tested positive for COVID-19, pushing the state's tally to 1,20,216, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 7.5 per cent. 

Of the five COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Tuesday, one case each are from Imphal West, Imphal East, Churachandpur, Thoubal and Bishnupur. All had co-morbidities and only one was vaccinated with the first dose, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases 130 and 47 positive cases respectively. Ten cases were reported from Ukhrul, seven from Churachandpur, six from Kangpokpi, four each from Tamenglong and Kamjong, two each from Senapati, Thoubal and Bishnupur and one each from Chandel and Kakching.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded 179 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,16,221. The recovery rate is 96.68 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 2,143 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,283 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and  274 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine had reached 16,81,728 (first dose: 12,20,673 and second dose: 4,61,055).

According to the release, there are 453 vacant general beds and 107 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in seven hospitals of Manipur. 

In CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 29 vacant general beds and eight ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 25 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 20 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 53 vacant general beds and 37 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 80 vacant general beds and 24 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 200 vacant general beds and 24 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 46 general beds and five ICU/HDU, it mentioned.
