As flight service of Bir Tikendrajit International Airport is to be resumed from 9 am on Monday, the Airport Authority of India, Imphal International Airport on Saturday demonstrated the procedure which passenger has to follow before boarding the flight.
The authorities concerned demonstrated the dos and don’ts a passenger has to follow at the airport. Before entering the boarding gate, passengers along with their baggage will be sanitized with disinfectant liquid. The passenger will be instructed to wash their hands.
The authorities will take thermal scan for the passengers at the boarding gate. After entering the boarding gate, the passenger will sanitize their hands using the sanitizer machine which is installed inside the boarding gate.
Speaking to the media, Imphal International Airport officiating director, MN Ansari told that maximum preventive measures will be taken inside the airport before boarding a plane. The thermal checking of passengers will be repeated during the checking of tickets.
He said there will be a full body thermal scan machine installed at the terminal. The passengers who arrived in Imphal will not be allowed to leave the airport but deputed vehicles of government will carry them at quarantine centres as per protocol.
Ansari said there will be seven flights for departure and seven for arrival on Monday. He appealed to the people to follow the guidelines of the government. Each passenger will be allowed to carry a maximum of 20 kilograms baggage in addition to the handbag, he added.
Meanwhile, the state government has issued the categories to be exempted from carrying curfew pass in view of the resumption of flight services.
A statement issued by chief secretary, J Suresh Babu said that the resumption of flight services from May 25 would necessitate movement of passengers who are to board or who disembarked from flights. Therefore, in order to facilitate the movement of passengers and people who have come to drop or pick up passengers, the boarding passes or tickets either in electronic from or paper would be taken as curfew pass to move between residence and airport, it stated.
Persons coming to drop or pick up their relatives can also use boarding passes or tickets to move between residence and airport, it said. All authorised taxis (taxis with Transport department permit) are also allowed to ply to pick and drop passengers coming by flight, it added.
