Manipur: State guest facilities closed

Only security, as per entitled scale, to be provided to the visiting Ministers/Non-officials and accompanying staff

The General Administration department on Thursday announced that no state guest facilities would be extended to any Minister(s), Non-officials and accompanying staff visiting all places of Manipur State until the Election Commission publishes the notification regarding the formation of Lok Sabha.

Only security, as per entitled scale, will be provided to the visiting Ministers/Non-officials and accompanying staff, stated an office memorandum signed by deputy secretary (GAD) A Heera Singh.

It recalled that the Election Commission of India had issued notifications for General Elections to the House of the People (Lok Sabha), 2024 on March 16. Accordingly, the dates of election in Manipur are scheduled on April 19 and 26, it stated.

As a result, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has come into force with immediate effect, i.e., from March 16 and will remain effective until the Election Commission publishes notification regarding the formation of Lok Sabha and the result of election is declared, it stated.

All the concerned Administrative Secretaries/HoDs/Officers are requested to adhere strictly to the Model Code of Conduct during this period, it added.
