Manipur: Power shutdown alert

Power supply will not be available in Kakching, Churachandpur, Moreh, Chandel and Elangkangpokoi areas, MSPCL stated.

Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL), Transmission Division no 1, Lamphelpat on Wednesday informed that three HT towers of 400 KV PGCI (Yurembam) to Thoubal have collapsed while two HT towers of the same line have suffered structural damage owing to a strong cyclone which occurred around 3 pm.

A release signed by deputy general manager Kh Davidkumar Singh also stated that 132 KV Thoubal-Kakching D/C line has been damaged at several places due to the cyclone. Therefore, power supply will not be available in Kakching, Churachandpur, Moreh, Chandel and Elangkangpokoi areas, it stated.

It further said that the restoration of the damaged towers and the line will take time. Inconvenience caused to the general public and consumers is highly regretted, it added.
