Manipur: Arms recovered from Utonglok

The recovered weapons included one 9 mm US-made M-1 carbine machine gun, one tear gas gun, five live rounds of 9 mm ammunition, among others.

A joint operation by a combined team comprising Imphal East District Police, 22 Assam Rifles and G/4 Bn. CRPF conducted cordon and search operation on Tuesday at 8.30 am based on a reliable input at the foothill of Utonglok village under Sagolmang PS, Imphal East district, Manipur and recovered arms and hand grenades.

The recovered weapons are one 9 mm US-made M-1 carbine machine gun, one tear gas gun, five live rounds of 9 mm ammunition, one tear gas shell, nine nos. of fired tear gas shells, and three nos. of 36 HE hand grenades.

The items were seized at 9.40 am and handed over to Sagolmang Police Station for taking necessary action. Accordingly, a regular case under FIR No 12(3)2024 SMG PS u)u/s 25,(2-C) A. Act & 5 ,Expl. Subs Act has been registered for investigation.

Meanwhile, a combined team of Bishnupur police and BSF conducted cordon and search operations at Kwakta ward no 4 under Phougakchao Ikhai PS in Bishnupur district on Tuesday.

During the operation, around 30 were searched and around 120 individuals were verified. However, no arrest or recovery was made.
