Manipur Police on Monday stated that arms and ammunition were recovered by security forces during search operations conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, while adding that the situation in the state was under control during the last 24 hours.
According to a statement issued by the Police Control Room, Manipur Police, search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts on Monday, during which arms and ammunition were recovered from Bishnupur district.
The recovered items included one .303 Rifle (modified), one carbine with empty magazine, four Number 36 HE hand grenade with tube launching, one country-made pistol, 10 BP helmet, 19 pairs of shoes, 12 belts, three BP jacket, five P-cap, one bag, two mattresses, dangri and camouflage dress (nine shirts, 17 pants and one jacket) and two carton boxes of medical items, it stated.
The Manipur Police stated that movement of 296 and 187 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it added.
It also appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos.
"Any circulation of unfounded videos etc. may be confirmed from the rumour free number - 9233522822 of Central Control room. Further, an appeal is made to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces Police Control Room Manipur Police immediately," it stated.
