Polling for the second phase of Lok Sabha Election 2024 in the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency is underway across 13 Assembly Constituencies spanning eight hill districts of the state. Voting is peaceful and no untoward incident has been reported yet in the Phase 2 election.
Interestingly, women voters were seen in their traditional attire at the polling stations, especially at 52/85 Sibilong-1 in Tamenglong district.
Tengnoupal district witnessed 65 per cent polling till 2 pm.
Till 1 pm, Tamenglong recorded 69.87 per cent voter turnout, 59.12 per cent votes cast at 56-Thanlon while 53 per cent votes were cast at 55-Tipaimukh AC in Pherzawl district, 54.8 per cent recorded in Ukhrul while 60 per cent votes were cast at Moreh in Tengnoupal district till 12.30 pm.
Till 11 am, 31 per cent voter turnout has been recorded in Tengnoupal district, 50.5 per cent in Tamenglong district, 32.22 per cent in Ukhrul district, 41.29 per cent in Senapati district.
Zero voter turnout was reported at three polling stations i.e. P/S-49/68 Taphou Kuki, P/S-49/69 Changoubung and P/S-49/75-A, B Kotlen located at Kuki inhabited areas in Senapati district.

Till 9 am a voter turnout of 17 per cent was recorded in Ukhrul district, 10 per cent in Tamenglong, 18 per cent in Tengnoupal, 18.42 per cent at Nungba AC in Noney district.
Four candidates are in the fray for the Outer Manipur LS seat - Alfred Kanngam Arthur from the Congress party, Kachui Timothy Zimik representing the Naga People’s Front (NPF), and two independent candidates, Alyson Abonmai and S Kho John.
A total of 4,84,949 electors are set to seal the fate of the four candidates in the second phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Out of these voters, 2,39,140 are male electors, 2,45,807 are female electors, and the remaining are third-gender electors.

It may be mentioned that as many as 848 polling stations have been established across the constituency, with 87 companies of paramilitary forces and over 4,000 state police personnel deployed to maintain law and order.
The districts where the election is being conducted are Jiribam, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal, Ukhrul, Pherzawl, Senapati, Noney, and Kamjong and the Assembly segments polling in the Phase 2 are: 40-Jiribam, 42-Tengnoupal (ST), 43-Phungyar (ST), 44-Ukhrul (ST), 45-Chingai (ST), 47- Karong (ST), 48-Mao (ST), 49-Tadubi (ST), 52-Tamei (ST), 53-Tamenglong (ST) and 54-Nungba (ST), 55-Tipaimukh (ST) and 56-Thanlon (ST).
Counting of votes will be held on June 4.
