The North East India Festival 2022 is set for its first-ever celebration outside India in Bangkok on July 30-31 from 2pm to 10 pm in celebration of 75 years of India-Thailand relations and to deepen the ties between the countries.
Announcing the celebration of the second edition of the NE India Festival at Central World Bangkok, Thailand, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma called upon all to join the celebration that will showcase Northeast India - a "beautiful unexplored paradise of India". The entry to the festival is free.
"The #NorthEastIndiaFestival will celebrate 75 Yrs of India-Thailand relations & will be held in Bangkok on 30th & 31st of July 2022 Come join us as we proudly showcase our North East & open new avenues for this beautiful unexplored paradise of India," Sangma tweeted.
"North East India Festival 2022 is organised to promote and strengthen relationships with India and Thailand with a special focus on India’s North East. The region is similar to Thailand with shared history and geography. North East India Festival 2022 will celebrate, the shared ethnicity and shared history of Thailand and Northeast India," the organisers said.
They said the festival will also feature Popular Thai rock bands, popular bands from North East India, spectacular fashion show with celebrity Thai showstoppers, Exhibition of Coffee, World famous Assam tea, exotic bamboo based products, crafts, delectable cuisines, Art, a spectrum of colourful dance forms with special performance from Tai community of North East India and Thailand.
Among the several designers, Manipur's Robert Naorem, a noted fashion entrepreneur, who is well known for his contribution to the world of fashion and beauty and handloom and textile of Manipur, will showcase his work at the NorthEast India Festival Fashion Weekend on day one of the festival.
Business Meets on Trade, Tourism, People to people exchange. Chief Ministers of Provincial Governments of India's North East, Top policymakers of Thailand, Ambassadors of ASEAN nations and many celebrities will attend the festival, the organisers said.
North East Festival (NEF) is organised is by North East India's socio-cultural trust Trend MMS. with support from various state governments of Northeast, Union Home Affairs Ministry, NEC, and the DoNER Ministry.
The festival is celebrated every year in an attempt to promote North East India's culture, resources across India, and is a platform to discuss critical issues of the region. The festival is about promoting the region as an ideal destination for tourism and investments, the organisers said.
