Youth for Peace and Progress Manipur (YPPM) condemned academician professor Amar Yumnam for his alleged distortion in historical facts of Manipur and urged the academician, who is out of state, not to return home.
Addressing media at Imphal International Airport on Monday, co-convenor of YPPM Jurist Khumancha said that from reliable sources, they came to notice that an academician, professor Amar Yumnam has to return back to Imphal on Tuesday from Bangladesh where he went to attend a meeting.
YPPM protested at the Imphal International Airport, condemning him for not clarifying his mistake, and opposing his returning. However, even after hours of his arrival time, he was not seen at the airport, he added.
He further said that various organisations have condemned professor Amar Yumnam for alleged involvement in distortion of Manipuri history. In one of the theses which was co-supervised by professor Amar Yumnam, he claimed that the total area of Manipur at the time of its merger to India was only 700 sq km, which is completely false, he said.

Despite making such a big mistake that can severely mislead the history of Manipur, he failed to clarify or accept his grave mistake till date, he said.
“If professor Amar Yumnam truly loves Manipur, he would have understood the sentiment of people of the state and clarify his mistake. But, instead of accepting his blunder he keeps on avoiding the issue. What can we expect from such a person?” he asked.
While reiterating they demand for the professor to apologise for the wrongful act, he warned professor Amar Yumnam not to return home as he is not fit to live in the state.
