A team of special commando, Manipur Police apprehended three Myanmar nationals while conducting foot patrolling in and around the Moreh town on Sunday.
The apprehended Myanmar national were apprehended under the suspicion of looting abandoned houses in the border town that had been left vacant due to the present crisis.
The three persons have been identified as one Khamkhenthang Guite, 25, son of Paochinlen Guite of Namphalong Sawbua II, Myanmar; Aung Mae, 30, son of Mae Aao of Tamu Sawbua X, Myanmar; Aung Aung, 25, son of Uoo Mao Mao of Tamu Sawbua XI, Myanmar.
Police reported that the trio is suspected of stealing furniture items, electric generators from the abandoned houses which were partially burnt down in connection with the present crisis.
The apprehended persons were later handed over to Moreh police station for further necessary legal action.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh also shared the same on his facebook page. He posted with a caption, stating that “This happened when some particular organizations were objecting and protesting against the deployment of state police and commandos at Moreh town.”
“It is apparent that these organizations do not want the presence of state forces in Moreh so that many of these Myanmarese can be brought into the country. The state government cannot keep silent on such an alarming issue of illegal migration.”
Recently, in a joint meeting of all CSOs of Tengnoupal district comprising KCA, Tengnoupal, KCA Moreh Block, HTC, KSO, KKL, KWU and HR and MYC demanded various points.
The demands included no resettlement programme until political settlement; to appoint tribal Kuki-Zo officers, in Tengnoupal and Moreh Sub-division; no further induction of state forces- police CDO, IRB and MR in Moreh, Tengnoupal; no chopper service for IRB, CDO and MR; to remove Meira Paibie checkpoint at Kakching Lamkhai and other areas; to remove all CDO posts and disallow CDO patrolling in and around Moreh; replacement of Manipur CDOs with Gorkha Regiment or any central forces; proper re-verification of all state forces personnel posted within Tengnoupal district.
Alleging that the state government is forcefully attempting to deploy additional state forces in Moreh, the Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal district held a peaceful sit-in protest and submitted a charter of demands to the deputy commissioner of Tengnoupal district, as per reports.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, N Biren Singh had expressed that no one can stop Manipur Police going to any place of Manipur while controlling law and order of the state.
The CoTU Sadar Hills also held a sit- in protest against the deployment of additional state forces in the Tengnoupal district and Moreh.
