District Congress committees of Thoubal and Kakching on Monday joined the nationwide sit-in protest against the price hike of petroleum products in the country.
Thoubal District Congress Committee organised the sit-in protest at the complex of District Congress Office, Thoubal Athokpam. Khangabok assembly constituency MLA Okram Surjakumar, DCC president N Lukhoi, district youth congress and Mahila leaders took part in the protest.
Decrying the BJP-led government at the Centre for the price hike, MLA Surjakumar said that the BJP led government acts on whims, not on the wishes of the people. “This government is completely anti-people,” he added.
Kakching District Congress Committee and Kakching block Congress Committee jointly organised the protest against the price hike at the office of the latter at Kakching.
Ksh Kennedy, a Congress party candidate at the recently concluded 12 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election and several other Congress workers also took part in the protest.
