The stage has been set for a grand celebration of Sangai Festival 2022 in Churachandpur which is slated to begin Thursday.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh will inaugurate the celebration at Geljang Resort, Khuga in the morning and later attend the celebration at border village Behiang in Churachandpur district.
The three-day event in Churachandpur will showcase the rich cultural flavour, blend of traditional and western music, food and cuisines, adventure sports, indigenous games, art works, etc., of the district.
At Geljang Resort, the first day (November 24) will feature cultural performance by various communities, including bamboo dance, Thang-Ta and football freestyle show by Muani Tangpua.
The day will also feature performance on Hingminnasi Eikhoi and indigenous games, screening of video on tourism potential of the district, magic show by Ozaka Joute, and musical performance by bands - Sound Factory (Drixian Empire) and other artistes.
The programme will start from 10:30 am. Other activities will include boating, indigenous games such as pole climbing, water zorbing, live weaving, art and photo exhibitions.
At Behiang, the programme will be held at Southern Manipur Cultural Centre from 1:30 pm and the main highlights include cultural dances by various tribes of Manipur, solo guitar performance by Vawnchawi Vaiphei.
The night programme will witness traditional fashion parade with special appearance by Miss Kut 2022, live music performance by Echoes of Mercy and a galaxy of prominent artistes will belt out their hit numbers. Besides, there will be a live screening of the FIFA World Cup match.
Cultural performances by tribes of Churachandpur, and rock concert (Khuga Waves) by local artistes and bands, meet the stars programme featuring Soma Laishram, brand ambassador, MSF 2022, performance by folk singer Rosy Heisnam and K-Pop dance by Duality will be the main attractions at Geljang Resort, Khuga on Nov 25. The programme will begin at 10:30 am.
On November 26, the programme will be held at Lamka Public ground from 4 pm onwards. Bands such as Sound from the Hills, E-Rose, We Dance Academy, Pengpelep and other artistes will rock the stage.
The programme will also include fashion show by designer Robert Naorem with special appearance by Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta.
Churachandpur Deputy Commissioner Sharath Chandra Arroju, who is also the chairman of the District Organising Committee, MSF 2022 said that decks have been cleared for the spectacular show. He said that free transportation for revellers will be arranged for all venues. Besides, entry will be free at all the venues.
Sharath Arroju appealed to all sections of the people of the district and others to join in the celebration of festival of oneness.
