A CRPF personnel was caught red-handed by locals while he was allegedly planting a ‘bomb trap’ while renovation work was going on for Jadonang Memorial site at Puiluan village under Nungba sub-division on Saturday.
The report said the CRPF personnel reportedly admitted to his crime and disclosed that the bomb was given to him by AR Nungba COB post Commander on Friday night.
The CRPF personnel was rounded up by the womenfolk of Puiluan Village, sensing his suspicious movement near the area where the bomb was planted. He confessed the crime upon questioning, sources stated.
The village court, according to the traditional practice imposed fines, and a certain agreement was reached between the CRPF and the village court. The man was later set free with strong warnings, it mentioned.
Meanwhile, the Nungba Area Village Authority Association (NAVAA), RNCM Luangba Lungrian, RNLPM Luangba Luangrian, RNSOM Luangba Luangrian and NAJAC have condemned the planting of bomb on Saturday by personnel of the CRPF at Puiluanh (Kmbiron), a revered historical village of national fighter, Haipou Jadonang.
Signed by head of the five associations, while calling for condemning such act, the release stated that the CRPF personnel, identified as Thiyam Ashok Singh, CT/INT Force No. 055154631 of 87 Bn CRPF, planted the bomb on the behest of 39 Assam Rifles, Nungba Outpost.
This is the fourth consecutive incident of planting bomb in Nungba area in the last four years with no reason known and all stage managed, devised and engineered drama of Assam Rifles, they stated. Such an act of terrorism is outdated, a crime against society and humanity, and gross violation of human rights.
The conspiracy of the Indian security forces still haunts and has no room in present society, the organisation asserted.
They further stated that the organisations are deeply concerned with the working and attitude of the Indian government and its security forces against and upon the Nagas.
The planting of live fatal bombs by the Indian security forces who claim to be the security of the people at the exact village of the freedom fighter, Haipou Jadonang, who is revered by everyone, is an utter surprise but not unexpected and not a new subject, the release stated, adding that it is an act of cowards who can never be trusted.
Planting bombs in a peace zone is trying to create fears, tensions and mistrust, only to get ‘good boy’ comment from their higher officer is an absolute act of cowardice and foolishness having no space in an advanced society, the release stated.
Describing the incident, the organisations stated that the direct continuous involvement in the act of terrorism against the innocent public is a heinous crime by the Indian security forces and called for booking the CRPF personnel and AR involved and punishing them by the court of law. They warned that the people of Nungba area will not remain a silent spectator but start a wave of democratic agitations.
Stating that the organisations anticipate the India government and security forces to stop such barbarism and focus more on the bright side of the people, they also appealed to all like-minded CSOs and people to come forward and condemn such inhuman incidents for peaceful co-existence.
