RNBA renamed RBCC during MBC general assembly

Over 210 representatives from 29 associations under the MBC, Council of Baptist Churches in North East India, head of Institutions and councillors from different churches attended the 42nd General Assembly of Manipur Baptist Convention.

The two-day 42nd general assembly of the Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC) held under the theme ‘Rejoice in the Lord’ concluded in Tamenglong on Saturday, during which, the Rongmei Naga Baptist Association (RNBA) was renamed Rongmei Baptist Churches Council (RBCC).

The convention was hosted by RNBA and hosted by the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Tamenglong. It was attended by 210 members from 29 associations under Manipur Baptist Convention.

The 42nd General Assembly of Manipur Baptist Convention dissolved the Rongmei Naga Baptist Association (RNBA) and changed it to Rongmei Baptist Churches Council (RBCC).

During the assembly, matters related to associations, institutions, projects and departmental functions were brought for discussion and resolutions were adopted by the house.

Speaking to the Imphal Free Press on the sidelines of the assembly, recording secretary Jaojianlung Riamei announced some of the important resolutions adopted, including the change of the nomenclature of the erstwhile Rongmei Naga Baptist Association (RNBA) to Rongmei Baptist Churches Council (RBCC), and Nepali Gorkha Baptist Churches Association to Gorkha Baptist Churches Association. 

Nominations for the honorary officer post of president, vice-president and recording secretary were formed and unanimously resolved to re-elect reverend Sr Onesima as president, reverend Lunkholal Kipgen as vice president and Jaojianlung Riamei as recording secretary respectively.

The opening night was marked by public worship service, special music from worship teams and youths, and it was choreographed by Sunday School Students, while gospel sharing was conducted by the president reverend Sr Onesima.

The 43rd Annual General Assembly will be hosted by Liangmai Naga Baptist Association-Manipur in 2023, he added.

In the meantime, MBC family and delegates profoundly thanked the host churches and association for their warm reception, hospitality and services rendered to all for the successful conduct of the 42nd Annual Assembly.
