A team of Thoubal District Police on Thursday rescued a missing minor girl from Jasai, Navi Mumbai under Uran Police Station, Mumbai around 2.45 pm on Thursday.
The rescue operation was led by Gaurav Dogra, SDPO/Yairipok and women investigating officers of Women Police Station, Thoubal district with the valuable assistance of Mumbai Police in connection with FIR No. 20(10)2024 WPS-TBL u/s 87/142 BNS, 2023 added 4 POCSO Act, 2012, said a statement.
The accused abductor, namely Laishram Sanathoi Singh, 25, son of L Biramani Singh of Jiri Dibong Khunou has also been arrested, it stated, adding, the real name of Sanathoi was later found to be Abdul Mannaf Choudhury, son of Abdul Zabbar of Jirighat Bagicha Part-1.
The medical examination of the minor female will be conducted, it mentioned.
After Transit Remand is obtained from concerned Magistrate and BCAS Permission obtained for transporting arrested accused, the team will return to Manipur for further necessary legal procedures, it added.
Meanwhile, the Police Control Room, Manipur Police on Thursday stated that search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.
The movement of 176 and 220 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively has been ensured, stated a release. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoys are provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it stated.
It mentioned that a total of 109 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and seven were detained by Police in connection with violations in different districts of the state, it mentioned.
It appealed to the general public not to believe in rumors and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc. may be confirmed from the rumor free number - 9233522822 of the Central Control room, it stated.
It further appealed to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately. During the last 24 hours, the situation in the State was tense but under control, it added.
