The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) on Wednesday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks on ‘cross-border terrorism’ at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s virtual summit and asserted that it is a blatant contradiction to the political game plan executed by the Central Government for years in Manipur.

The Prime Minister sent a strong message to the countries that use cross-border terrorism as an instrument of their policies and provide aid to terrorists, when the Central Government has allegedly turned a blind eye to the unabating menace of terrorism carried out by narco-terrorists in the state, COCOMI stated in a release.

The committee also accused the central government of providing logistic support and aiding illegal terrorists from Myanmar with privileges almost the same as any Indian citizen. They alleged that such scheming activities of the Central government have given a boost to the terrorists in forming a permanent narco-terrorist state in the country.

They highlighted the relentless terror activities carried out by the narco-terrorists in the state against innocent civilians, all in the presence of central security forces. The committee also questioned the central government under what understanding it allowed the narco-terrorists to carry out such atrocities against the innocent indigenous Meitei people.

The committee also condemned the government for allegedly protecting the narco-terrorists in the state in encroaching reserve and protected forest areas for illegal poppy cultivation. They maintained that the prime minister’s "counter-terrorism strategy" has double standards when it comes to dealing with "narco-terrorists" in Manipur and added that his remark is a grave disrespect to the people of the state.

COCOMI also condoled the untimely demise of one Abujam Ronaldo (25) who was killed in an intense clash between a mob and 3rd IRB Battalion personnel at Khangabok in Thoubal district on Tuesday and shared grief of the bereaved family.
