The Police Control Room, Manipur Police on Monday stated that police officers of Assam and Manipur had a joint night street meeting at Jiribam along the Assam-Manipur border in connection with the prevailing scenario in the region on Saturday, and regular patrolling and area domination have been intensified in the entire riverine stretch of Barak and Jiri rivers.
Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, stated a release.
During the search operations, one 7.62mm AK 56 Assault Rifle, one pt. 22 Rifle, one 12-inch Single bore barrel gun, two improvised Projectile Launchers, one Chinese Hand grenade, one Country made Hand grenade, one 51mm mortars and 15 rounds of live ammunitions were seized from foothills of Gangpijang Hill Ranges, Kangpokpi District on Sunday, it stated.
Earlier on Friday, security forces arrested three UG cadres from Shantong near Lamlong Village, Tengnoupal District. They are identified as Thiyam Lukhoi Luwang, 21, of KYKL, Keisham Premchand Singh, 24, of KYKL and one Inaobi Khundrakpam ,20,of KCP Noyon Group, it mentioned.
Movement of 117 and 378 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items has been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it stated.
A total of 122 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 104 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State, it mentioned.
It appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc. may be confirmed from the rumour free number 9233522822 of Central Control room, it said. It further appealed to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately. During the last 24 hours, the situation in the State was under control, it added.
