Thawai Mirel co-convenor Paonam Sanahanbi on Tuesday said that monitoring the issue in Jiribam is not a duty solely meant for Chief Minister N Biren Singh, but all the MLAs must jointly take the responsibility and go to Jiribam along with adequate securities to save Jiribam.
Sanahanbi told the media at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul, Imphal on Tuesday that Manipur has been burning since May 3, 2023.
She said that the peripheral area of Imphal West district namely, Kadangband, Koutruk, Senjam Chirang are still echoing the sounds of bombs and gun shots. On Monday and Tuesday also, gunfight with bombs are still going on at these areas which is located in just few distance from CM’s bungalow, she added.

She further raised concern that Jiribam has also been taken over by the Kukis in population. The most essential thing which the people of Jiribam want is adequate ambulance, proper medical facilities and adequate state forces, she added.
“People of Manipur do not want to hear the assurance that I will go to Jiribam but people want to hear, I have reached Jiribam”, said Sanahanbi.
The representatives of Manipur without the 10 Kuki-Zo MLAs should know that they are all responsible to save Jiribam. N Biren Singh is not a mere representative whose sole duty is to monitor Jiribam and all the 50 MLAs must go to Jiribam along with adequate securities in order bring the issue under control, she added.
Thawai Mirel, convenor Th Dara said Kuki militants are attacking Meitei at any time they want and the India government are even unable to take any action against them. The government should take immediate steps to stop the violence in Jiribam, he added.
