The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against five persons who were arrested with arms and ammunition during frisking and checking on September 16, 2023 by Manipur Police; the case was handed to NIA.

On September 16, 2023, Manipur Police arrested five persons namely Moirangthem Anand, Athokpam Kajit, Keisham Johnson, Loukrakpam Micheal Mangangcha and Konthoujam Meghajit Meitei, when they were travelling in a vehicle impersonating uniformed policemen.

In its charge sheet, the NIA found a link between arms looted in raids on police armouries and those recovered from five individuals.

The charge sheet also refers to weapons training camps organised by cadres of a proscribed Meitei insurgent group.

The NIA charge sheet has also claimed that a forensic study found a link between arms recovered from the accused by Manipur Police last September, to arms looted from Police stations of valley areas.

It has mentioned that during the course of investigation, three out of four arms seized from the accused were looted from various government sources.

It identified the arms from the armoury of 7th Manipur Rifles Battalion (1 INSAS rifles), 2nd Indian Reserve Battalion (1 SLR rifle) and Manipur Police Training Centre (.303 rifles).

The NIA stated that M Anand is a cadre of PLA and he had been arrested six times in the past. Remaining four are supporters and accompany Anand while mobilizing to attack rival communities, the national agency said.

It also stated that China Myanmar module of NSCN/IM based in Myanmar a under leadership of Hangshi Tangkhul and Absolom Tangkhul have decided to extend support to proscribed terrorist organisations Kanglei Yaol Kanba Lup (KYKL) and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to infiltrate their cadres into the Indian territory for carrying out terrorist attacks in India.

After the charge sheet was filed, NSCN (I-M) responded that the statement of NIA supporting Meitei outfits to exploit the current situation is not only misleading but cruel and vicious as it is too far from the point of accuracy and morally not ethical at all.

This is a proxy war of Indian security forces in the name of KNA(B) and PDF against NSCN. But to put the matter straight, Naga Army had not taken a single step to fight against the KNA (B). Neither did we find the reason to go against PDF, the NSCN (I-M) stated.

What is going on now in the Myanmar border with India is something that is exposing the hidden war or proxy war against the NSCN. Indian security forces consisting of AR and para-regiment are constantly raining bombs on NSCN positions on a daily basis in the name of KNA(B), it alleged.
