The Superintendent Churachandpur District Police, Shrivanand Surve, was on Wednesday awarded the Best Electoral Practice Award by President of India Droupadi Murmu on the occassion of the 13th National Voters Day (NVD) at a function organised by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in New Delhi. The Award was presented to the SP of Churachandpur for his outstanding performance in the conduct of Manipur Legislative Assembly election 2022.
Manipur also joined the nation in celebrating the 13th National Voters' Day under the theme ‘Nothing like voting, I vote for sure’. The main function was organised by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur at JN Dance Academy. The observation was attended by Manipur chief secretary Rajesh Kumar, Manipur Director General of Police P Doungel and additional CEO Naorem Praveen.
Addressing the event, chief secretary Rajesh Kumar said that if one works very hard, their term will be extended and they won't have to retire. Congratulating the team of CEO for conducting one of the most peaceful elections, the chief secretary pointed out that many things changed during the last few elections and appreciated the team starting from booth level to CEO level which is dedicated to peaceful elections.
He also called on the young voters to come out and vote and select the person who is responsible for their day while advising them to be alert while choosing a person as they will be the chosen representatives for the next five years.
The chief secretary administered the National Voter’s pledge and presented EPIC and badges to new voters who enrolled on January 1, 2023.
He also distributed the awards for best exemplary performance of District Election Officers, EROs, ROs in the conduct of Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2022.
The day was also celebrated in every district, subdivision and booth level of the state as per the direction of the Election Commission of India and the chief electoral officer of Manipur.
In Churachandpur district, the 13th National Voters' Day Celebration programme was held at DTC Hall, Tuibong. It was organised by the District Election Officer, Churachandpur and attended by the DC of Churachandpur Sharath Chandra Arroju, DLOs and the new voters.
On the occasion, additional DC of Churachandpur and Additional Election Officer Thenlaljoy Gangte, said that India is the biggest democracy in the world where people choose their representative while calling on all eligible persons to participate in the electoral process.
The 13th NVD celebration also witnessed the launching of ‘Main Bharat Hoon' song and distribution of EPIC (new inclusion) cards to 47 people by the DC who is the District Election Officer. It was followed by a NVD's Pledge taken by all the participants led by Dingluiai Varte, AES.
In Bishnupur district, the 13th National Voters’ Day was celebrated at Panchayat Resource Centre Hall. During the function, Electoral Photo Identity Cards (Voter ID) were distributed to newly enrolled voters, besides launching a song titled “Main Bharat Hoon”.
Ejaj Hassan, AC to DC, CMO Dr L Raichandra Singh, DAO (Agri) K Jugeshwor, ZEO N Chingkhei Singh, DIO (IT) T Shantikumar, DLOs and staff of DC office participated in the celebration.
