A mass rally against "Chin Kuki narco-terrorism" and a public convention will be held on July 29 at Hapta Kangjeibung, Imphal, by the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity, along with CSO leaders, activists and people, theCOCOMI said on Tuesday.

The COCOMI said the rally would start from THAU ground and pass through major urban areas in greater Imphal and culminate at Hapta Kangjeibung where the public meeting will convene.

Speaking to the media at the UCM office, Imphal, COCOMI convenor Jeetendra Ningomba stated that several fringe elements were lobbying at various national and international institutions to distort the image of Manipur over the course of the crisis.

The central government seems to have jumped in the ship instead of preventing such despicable vested dramas instead of resolving the issue, he claimed.

He reminded authorities that the present crisis was the result of brutal external aggression and an attempt to wipe out the natives of Manipur using various measures.

“As the crisis progressed the true picture of who is actually behind the whole crisis is slowly surfacing; it will not be long till the world realises that Chin-Kuki illegal immigrants are the ones who instigated the whole debacle,” he said.

Therefore, he maintained that the convention would discourse heavily on the infringement of Chin Kuki narco-terrorists in the state and collectively swear to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur till the last moment.

As such he exhorted all local leaders, cultural and social activists and prominent figures of Manipuri society to extend their aid and participate in the mass movement to safeguard the future of Manipur.

He informed that the rally would commence even if authorities imposed restrictions and curfews in connection with the rally. He also condemned the biased and lethargic nature of the central government in resolving the issue and questioned if they are working hand in glove with fringe elements to wipe out Manipuris.

He also objected to the centre’s rumoured meeting with SoO Kuki militants on July 26 and stated that no such meetings would be allowed.

“The militants support the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists and shows room to negotiate the present crisis in Manipur which the people are strongly against,” he said.

Meanwhile, COCOMI media coordinator Somorendro Thokchom questioned who the central paramilitary forces were protecting. Are they here to protect the Kuki militants and point the gun at the unarmed, he added.

“The forces have no problem letting heavily armed people walk freely during a protest rally in Churachandpur but they are ready to act all high mighty against the unarmed in the valley,” he said.

He further questioned whether the central government was thinking of giving separate administrations to all refugees in India if they were considering the demand for separate administrations in Manipur.
