Md Noor Rahman Sheikh, IFS of 2004 batch, is the first Meetei-Pangal to be appointed as an ambassador of India to a foreign country. Prior to his appointment, he was working as a joint secretary in the External Affairs Ministry.

Sources said that he is expected to take up his new assignment as the ambassador to the Republic of Lebanon soon.
