The JAC against the brutal killing of Takhellambam Manoranjan Singh on Friday announced a 48-hour statewide bandh from 5 am of Saturday till 5 am of Monday.
A release signed by JAC convenor Chanam Sanayaima Singh stated that the move was taken as the government’s side has not given any positive response regarding the demands made in the memorandum submitted to the chief minister by the JAC along with the people on Thursday. The JAC had given a 24-hour deadline to the government, it asserted.
It mentioned that Takhellambam Manoranjan from Thiyam Konjin, Samananjing Leikai was killed in an attack by Kuki narco terrorists atop Kangchup hill in the wee hours on Thursday.
It extolled the valour and sacrifice of Manoranjan since the conflict broke out in the state on May 3, 2023, and said that he volunteered to be on guard duty at Kangchup area ever since.
It mentioned that only essential services and religious events are exempted from the purview of the bandh.
It further urged the civil society organisations, clubs, meira paibis and the people of the state to support the 48-hour statewide bandh.
