Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey graces International Hindi Conference

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey highlighted the present situation of Manipur and the continuous efforts for relief and rehabilitation for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Manipur.

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey graced the International Hindi Conference held in commemoration with the 115th Birth Anniversary of the renowned National poet, late Ramdhari Singh Dinkar on Wednesday at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. It was organised by the Vishwa Hindi Parishad, New Delhi.

Addressing the gathering, the governor highlighted the present situation of Manipur and the continuous efforts for relief and rehabilitation for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who have been taking refuge in various relief camps in the state since the ethnic clash started on 3rd May. She reiterated that initiatives are being taken up by the Centre and state governments to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.

Governor Uikey said that Hindi language is one of the oldest languages of the world which is spoken by millions of people the world over. Hindi is also one of the six languages that are officially recognized by the United Nations.

The governor lauded the initiative of the VHP for encouraging the seekers of Hindi language in the spirit of public welfare and to upgrade the language and keep it moving at a steady pace.

The VHP has been playing its role for the last decade by gathering litterateurs, Hindi officials, employees and the public on one platform and motivating them in the service of Hindi propagation.  The Council honours the Hindi lovers with national level awards every year to promote their service to Hindi and appreciate their contribution, she added.

She stressed that Ramdhari Singh Dinkar was one of the major creators of Hindi literature who shaped Indian society, culture and philosophy through his works. So, he is known as a national poet. The hymn sung as a form of national unity is Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Patit Pavan Sita Ram were written by Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, she asserted.

It may be mentioned that in 1952, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha where he served as MP for two terms. He was the Vice Chancellor of Bhagalpur University and later the Government of India appointed him as its Hindi advisor.

His major works are more than two dozen collections, including Muktak-Kavya, Pranbhang, Renuka, Hunkaar, Raswanti, Dwandgeet, Samdheni, Bapu, Dhoop-Chhaanh, Haare Ko Harinam.

Ramdhari Singh Dinkar was honored with the Sahitya Akademi Award for the book ‘Sanskriti Ke Char Adhyay’ and the Jnanpith Award for the poetry work ‘Urvashi’. The Government of India decorated him with Padma Bhushan. A postage stamp was also issued by the Government of India in his memory.

Dr Swami Chidanand Maharaj, Parmarth Niketan-Rishikesh, Dr Arun Kumar, Ex MP, Vinay Bhardwaj, VHP president, Dr Bipin Kumar, VHP general secretary, Arvind Kumar Singh, grandson of Ramdhari Singh Dinkar and Deepak Thakur, co-convenor VHP were also present.
