Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Monday flagged off a National Integration Tour (NIT) from the Mantripukhri Garrison in Imphal. The tour is indeed an effort to strengthen the bond of oneness and promote nation building, the governor said.
The 12-day NIT to Kolkata tour is being organised as a part of Op Sadbhavna of the IGAR (South) and it comprises as many as two teachers and 20 students, including 10 girls from seven schools of Tengnoupal district.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor lauded the AR for its immense role in nation building especially by working for the growth and development of people living in the Northeast region.
Citing this NIT programme conducted for the students of Manipur, she said it shows that AR is working as an inspiration for the people.
She pointed out that the tour will also help in broadening the horizon of the participant students by ways of exposing to the rich culture and heritage of the country, besides meeting different renowned personalities from different walks of life and visiting institutions of national importance.
Interacting with the students and teachers, the governor apprised them to share their experiences and knowledge with their friends and families and wished them good luck in all their future endeavours.
As per the schedule, the students will be visiting places like National Security Guard Hub at Kolkata, Indian Naval Ship Netaji Subhash, Airforce Station Barrackpore, Sainik School Imphal and many other tourist attractions in Kolkata, besides getting an opportunity to interact with the Governor of West Bengal and Eastern Army Commander.
The programme also witnessed major general Rajan Sharawat; brigadier Ved Pal Yadav and high-ranking officials of the AR among others.
