The memorandum has been submitted as part of the ongoing agitation at Jantar Mantar by Ex –servicemen from across the country against the OROP scheme.

Speaking to media at the committee’s office, Lamphel, president of the committee Ng Lun said that the demonstration has been continuing since February 20 at Jantar Mantar in which thousands of ex-servicemen from all over the country including 24 soldier unions and 87 Jawan union have been protesting for their demands, he added.

He continued that the Union government had issued a press release on December 23, 2022 regarding the implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP) however, it does not include any benefit for PBOR JCOs, Jawans, Veer Naris and Widows.

Lun further demanded the government to implement equal Military Service Pay (MSP) which is currently implemented in most European countries. Under MSP, servicemen of various military branches are provided equal pensions regardless of the ranks, he added.

“If the government cannot provide Rs 15,500 to the Jawans on par with the Military Service Pay (MSP) of the officer then the Military Service Pay (MSP) of the officers should be made Rs 5,200 on par with that of the jawans with the balance given on the basis of Rs 15,500 deducted from the officer with interest,” he said.

In view of the agitation held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, he demanded the Union government to undo the injustice on the jawans and cautioned authorities concerned to take responsibility for the consequences of the protest.
