Manipur Director General of Police Rajiv Singh called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan wherein he apprised her of the prevailing security situation in the state on Thursday.
The DGP submitted a detailed report to the governor on the recent incidents and briefed her about his visit to Churachandpur district post February 15 incidents, stated a release. Cases of extortion from the general public and transporter associations were also discussed during the meet, it said.
Governor Uikey also asked Rajiv to take stringent actions against those involved in the act and to maintain free and safe passage of vehicles in the Highways, it noted. He further assured that Manipur Police has been working dedicatedly for safety and security of the people, the release mentioned.
She asserted that it is high time for the people to realize that there are few self-styled organisations both in hill and valley districts which are allegedly misleading the local populace by creating false propaganda from time to time, it said.
She also urged the people to understand the pivotal role played by Manipur Police in safeguarding the lives and properties of the people and further appealed to them for their support and cooperation in maintaining law and order in the State.
