In response to allegations leveled by BJP spokesperson MLA Kh Ibomcha, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has vehemently denied accusations of instigating actions against the peace process in Manipur.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Congress Bhawan in Imphal on Thursday, MPCC legal department chairman S Shyamcharan dismissed the claims as baseless.
Shyamcharan emphasised that the Congress party has consistently advocated for peace amid the ongoing crisis in Manipur, aligning with the collective aspirations of the people. Addressing another accusation regarding the postponement of a recent Assembly Committee meeting allegedly due to Congress MLAs being out of station, he refuted the claim, attributing the decision solely to reasons known only to the BJP government.
Furthermore, he urged the DGP, Manipur, to initiate FIRs against chief minister N Biren and BJP Manipur president A Sarda under Section 152 of the new criminal law, stressing its provisions concerning acts that threaten India’s sovereignty, unity, and integrity.
Highlighting the party’s commitment to upholding the law while challenging what it deemed as unfounded accusations by the BJP, Shyamcharan reaffirmed Congress stance on promoting peace and stability in Manipur.
