In wake of the heavy rainfall and violent hailstorm that lashed Manipur on Sunday, damaging several properties and crops in many parts of Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh continues to visit the hailstorm-affected areas and assess the situation.
As part of such a visit, the chief minister on Thursday inspected the areas in Moirang Assembly Constituency, Bishnupur District and took stock of the damages caused by the hailstorm.
Later, the Chief Minister in his X handle, also shared photos and said, ‘Inspected the areas in Moirang AC, Bishnupur District, which have been adversely affected by the recent hailstorm. Assessed the extent of the damage to ensure that relief measures are promptly implemented.’
It may be stated that the chief minister had been visiting several affected areas in many districts of the state as well as at relief camps, addressing public grievances and discussing measures taken to ensure support to those affected.
In one of his visits, the CM had stated that houses damaged with GI sheets will be replaced, with distribution overseen by the DCs concerned. He also disclosed that the agriculture and horticulture department is conducting surveys to assess the damage to vegetable crops and added that compensation will be provided, including for poultry farms, to affected farmers, once the survey completes.
Biren, in his social media handles, had also informed on helpline numbers established by the Government in various districts to provide swift assistance for those in need. He assured that the state government is taking all necessary measures to protect lives & properties and assist those who have been affected.
Meanwhile, the state government on Monday also issued orders to the Deputy Commissioners in the state to monitor the prices of roofing materials, including CGI sheets, to ensure availability to the affected households at reasonable rates.
Mention may be made that heavy rainfall accompanied by violent hailstorm hit Manipur on Sunday massively damaging many houses, crops, wildlife and birds and causing power outages in many areas, making it the worst hailstorm in history of the State.
