Manipur MLA Janghemlung Panmei on Friday inspected several development works in Tamenglong assembly constituency and urged the public to give utmost cooperation and support for timely completion of the projects.
“Let us make the most backward district into the most developed district,” he told reporters.
Pointing out that the dam constructed at Gadai Hill is not a multipurpose dam but purely for drinking water purposes, he urged citizens of Tamenglong not to make the dam site a place for recreation or picnic spot. He also appealed to all not to cut trees in the water catchment area.
The MLA also said that discussions will be held to construct an approach road for FCI godown, from Tamenglong headquarters to FCI godown site.
The FCI godown building is completed, but the weighing scales are yet to be installed, he said and instructed the workers to complete the installation within a month’s time. All construction works of the FCI godown is expected to be completed by the yearend, he said.
It may be mentioned that the construction of Food Corporation of India godown at old Tamenglong work was sanctioned in 2011 with a total cost of about Rs 13 crore. After a gap of seven years over land issues, the construction work was started only in 2018 October after settling all disputes.
The MLA along with his workers also inspected old Tamenglong Junior High School where the government has selected it as a model school since 2010. However, the construction of the school building with two class rooms and a school kitchen remains incomplete.
He instructed the zonal education officer Tamenglong to complete all incomplete infrastructures during the summer break. He further instructed to post required teachers.
