Legal awareness on 'Rights and Remedies available to a Child in Conflict with Law' held at Takyel

District Legal Services Authority of Tamenglong, Ukhrul and Senapati on Thursday organised Legal awareness on "Rights and Remedies available to a Child in Conflict with Law”.

Legal awareness on "Rights and Remedies available to a Child in Conflict with Law” was conducted during a one-day programme held at Observation Home, Takyel, Thursday.

The programme was organised jointly by the respective District Legal Services Authority of Tamenglong, Ukhrul and Senapati on Thursday under the sponsorship of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NLSA).

Speaking at the occasion, district and sessions Judge Tamenglong cum DLSA Tamenglong chairman N Rajnikanta Singh stated that the programme was organized as a part of “Haq - humara - bhi - to - hai@75” - a campaign for providing basic legal assistance to persons confined in prisons and Childcare Institutions to commemorate the 75th Year of Independence.

"All children in conflict with law, who are staying here in the Observation Home, Takyel is for their reformation and rehabilitation and to become a good citizen of our country," the chairman said.

He appealed to all the children staying in Observation Home to follow a daily fitness routine and approach the superintendent or person-in-charge as and when they face any problems or difficulties.

Advocate, Th Rajkishore highlighted the enactment of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. He said children get involved in criminal activities because of lack of knowledge, advice and awareness.

The programme was attended by staff of Observation Home, Takyel, members of Juvenile Justice Board, Tamenglong and Noney, Legal cum Probation Officer, Senapati, officials of DLSA, Senapati etc.
