Kakching District Administration on Monday celebrated the 76th Independence Day at Sumak Leikai Ground with Deputy Commissioner Somorjit Salam hoisting the National Flag.
Addressing the gathering at the event, Salam said, "We are gathered here to witness a very historic event of completing the 75 years of being an Independent nation. This Independence day is very special and as such we are celebrating the Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav... We must never forget their sacrifices and must pay the highest of tribute and homage to them".
Urging all to have a strong sense of nationalism and patriotism, Salam said Kakching district has seen a lot of progress and development.
Although a very young district and lacking in infrastructure and resources, Kakching is still leading in many parameters amongst all districts in Manipur, Salam said.
"In term of providing free household tap connections Kakching is leading amongst all district. Under the Swachh Baharat Mission, Kakching has been awarded the cleanest district in the whole of North East. We are still the highest in term of covid vaccination coverage".
The Deputy Commissioner lauded all the employees working in the district for having worked hard to develop the district. He also urges all the people in the district to work harder to become the most developed and progressive district in the whole of Manipur.
Konjengbam Geetchandra Singh, SDPO, Kakching, was the parade commander of the contingents.
Altogether, 14 contingents took part in today’s Independence Day Celebration which consisted of Civil Police, VDF, NCC Kha Manipur College Boys and Girls, NCC Wabagai Higher Secondary School, JNV Umathel Girls and Boys, Grace Cottage Academy Girls, Kakching Girts college, Kakching model Boys High School, Kakching Higher Secondary School, NCC Wabagai Higher Secondary School, ICDS project, Kakching, ASHA Kakching district, Southern Manipur Band party.
Cultural items were also presented by Centre for Performing Arts, Kakching, Kom Cultural troupe, Mantak village and Ibuthou Khamlangba Thangta Academy, Kakching.
In today's March pass, Umathel JNV (Girls) bagged first position, while ICDS project Kakching and Kakching Higher Secondary (Girls) were adjudged the 2nd and 3rd position holders respectively. Participation Certificates were given to all participant of march pass. (DIO-IPR)
