The National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) on Monday assessed health and wellness standards in aspirational and poor performing districts and blocks of the entire Northeast region.
The 3rd regional review cum technical support workshop on aspirational/ poor performing districts and blocks of the Northeast states is being organised by the Regional Resource Centre for NE states (branch of NHSRC, New Delhi) in collaboration with the National Health Mission, Manipur at Hotel Classic Grande.
Director of Regional Resource Centre, Ashoke Roy, said that there are 14 aspirational districts in the NE states; seven in Assam and one each in other states. The workshop aims to explore and overcome challenges in ensuring better healthcare, he said.

Executive director of National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), Major General Atul Kotwal, said that manpower shortage and poor connectivity are particular challenges for the NE region. He said that line departments such as water and sanitation have to make collaborative efforts to improve healthcare.
National Health Mission, Manipur director Somorjit informed that Chandel district was recorded as a poor aspirational performing district among 14 poor performing districts in northeast states.
The respective DCs and officials were part of the workshop and deliberated on improving the overall healthcare scenario.
