Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said every citizen has the right to freedom of religion but one should not look down on other religions for your own gain. The state government will take action against such person according to law, he said.
The chief minister was responding to a query regarding the current controversy over one Christian pastor T Ramananda ridiculing the religious practices of Meitei and Kom tribe.
CM Biren Singh on Tuesday flagged off the Northeast Car Rally at the Western Gate of Kangla, a rally that will pass through all the capitals of the eight north eastern states.
Speaking to the media at the side-line, the chief minister informed that the car rally is being held to commemorate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and will pass through the capitals of the eight north-eastern states spreading the message of national integration.

The idea of the rally is to bring cooperation, love, understanding and unity among the states of the North eastern region, Biren said, highlighting the efforts under the Prime Minister towards achieving a united India under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat mission.
Biren also lauded the Indian Army for organising the car rally for the North Eastern states stating that it will help in bringing a United India and United North East.
Regarding the border dispute issue, Biren said that there is nothing to change within the interstate border and the boundary will remain as it is.
With regards to the ban on Thabal Chongba, the CM said the decision was taken looking into the condition of COVID rate which is increasing in India as well as the three positive cases in the state.
During the flag-off, the CM presented school bags made from recycled Army Uniforms and books to the students of Iroisemba Upper Primary School.
It may be noted that the Purvottar Bharat Parikrama North East Car Rally is organised by the Eastern Command as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav commemorating 75 years of Independence.

The car rally has one SUV representing one state each, wherein the rally is traversing through, and two SUVs representing the Indian Army. They will drive through all the eight states of the North East, with the theme being connecting the eight states and paying homage to the freedom fighters of the region.
It was flagged off on March 22 on the eve of Saheedi Diwas 2023 from Kolkatta. After covering 2300 Km across five states (West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland) in the past eleven days, the Purvottar Bharat Parikrama car rally of the Indian Army reached Imphal, Manipur on Monday.
After traveling across the beautiful landscapes of Nagaland, the members of the car rally were received by MLA, Losii Dikho at Asufii Christian Institute (ACI), Mao, Manipur, and Dr Yumnam Radheshyam Singh, MLA at NCC Group HQ, Imphal.
