Drugs worth Rs 1.55 crore seized, three arrested in Manipur border districts

A team of Moreh Battalion Assam Rifles on Thursday recovered as many as 31,000 WY tablets worth around Rs 1.55 crore from a peddler in Tengnoupal district.

Three people were arrested and drugs worth Rs 1.55 crore seized in two different incidents by the security forces in Chandel and Tengnoupal districts on Wednesday and Thursday, sources said.

A team of Moreh Battalion Assam Rifles on Thursday recovered as many as 31,000 WY tablets worth around Rs 1.55 crore from a peddler who was found moving suspiciously on a Kenbo bike near T Bongmol village in Tengnoupal district, IGAR said in a release.

The recovered items and apprehended individual were handed over to Moreh police station for further legal proceedings.

In another incident, the Sajik Tampak battalion of AR apprehended two insurgents of the proscribed group PREPAK (PRO) near India-Myanmar border in Chandel district on Wednesday, the release stated.

The two insurgents were apprehended during an operation launched by the AR near the Indo-Myanmar border, based on a specific input, it stated, adding that the two have been handed over to Manipur police for further investigation.
