The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) on Sunday threatened to launch a stir if the Government of India does not withdraw the SoO accord with the Kuki militants breaking the SoO ground rules.

COCOMI media coordinator Somorendro Thokchom condemned the Central security forces for allegedly being mute spectators to the unabated onslaughts of the SoO Kuki militants on innocent civilians.

COCOMI had submitted a memorandum regarding the issue to the home minister via the state security advisor, it mentioned.

It claimed that despite the presence of the union home minister in the state, the Kuki militants armed with sophisticated weapons and some even donning ‘Longyis’ (Myanmarese attire) were still continuing their onslaught on the innocent Meitei civilians. Will such callous militants listen to the home minister, it questioned.

“The people are ready to cooperate with the government and all authorities concerned if the necessary actions are taken against the SoO Kuki militants and the influx of Kuki terrorists from outside the state,” it stated.

It drew the attention of the state security advisor to take up immediate action for the security forces to carry out necessary actions to control the Kuki terrorists and restore peace without any form of partiality.
“It is quite inhumane of the Kuki militants who are not even allowing the retrieval of dead bodies. Even during world wars, retrieval of the dead and injured were facilitated,” it added.

COCOMI also condemned the spread of fake news and false propaganda on social media, and national and international news media, urging the Manipuri diaspora to do the needful to disprove such fake news and false propaganda.

Two wrongs do not make a right and false propaganda will never last as truth will always prevail in the end, it stated. An all-party delegation team should make a visit to Delhi and urged the union government to take up apt action immediately and clarify to the national news media as well, it continued.

COCOMI appealed to all the people of the state to unite disregarding all differences and strive together for the sake of Manipur. “If we fail to unite now, there will be no future for us,” it added.
