Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday appealed to the people of the state not to create any issues or disturbances during the forthcoming G20 events which is scheduled to be held on February 17 and 18 in Imphal.
He told the media at the state BJP office located at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal, that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has received the opportunity to assume G20 Presidency, 2023 and host various events in the country.
During the scheduled dates, many foreign delegates will be coming to participate in the event in Manipur, and they will be visiting the Marjing Polo statue; Govindajee Temple; INA complex, Moirang; Sangai Ethnic park, Moirang Khunou, he said. If possible, they might also visit the Olympian park, Sangaithel, Imphal West, he added.
He appealed to the people residing at the particular sites where the delegates will be visiting to support and welcome them with hospitality. As there are significant improvements in various sectors including road connectivity and law and order situation and considering that Manipur has tourist spots, the G20 events have been scheduled in Imphal for two days, he said.
Biren further appreciated that the BJP government is in power at both the Center and state with support from the general public. The government will also try to provide more benefits to the people, he assured.
He said during the two-day BJP national executive meeting in New Delhi, it was resolved that Jagat Prakash Nadda will assume the post of national president for the party for another year. He said that the people are aware of the socio-political scenario in India that was prevalent before 2014 and afterwards.
Even during the pandemic, the Modi-led government introduced two Covid vaccines to the world. The vaccine was given to the people of the country free of costs and exported to 50 countries without charge, he added.
With support from the public, the Modi government was able to provide free ration during the pandemic, he continued. Under his leadership, the Central government has been giving priority to the Northeastern state in order to bring development. Likewise the state government will bring development, starting from the border areas, he added.
