Saying that the peace and normalcy is gradually returning to the state is a lie, and I have said many times before, because this is an act of insincerity, Manipur Lok Sabha MP Bimol Akoijam said on Tuesday.
He was speaking to the media in a press conference held in New Delhi on Tuesday.
“The Indian republic has been turned into a Banana Republic in Manipur. There is no doubt about it. Hostage taking is a terrorist act, just as in the West Asian problems in Gaza and you know, civilians, women and children being kidnapped,” he said.
You know, it happened in Manipur. A very small infant – an eight-months-old child, and a two or two-and-half year old child and a young girl in her 20s, early 20s, elderly women in their 60s have been abducted and they are held hostage, he said.
He further said that the government of India must ensure their safety and freedom from their abductors.
“If anything untoward happened to them, the Government of India under Shah and Modi and its puppet government – you know, this Council of Ministers led by Shri N Biren, as well as these so called Kuki-Zo MLAs who have been presiding – these are elected members. They have been presiding over this bloody mayhem for more than one and a half years, and they should be solely held responsible if anything happens to these innocent women and children,” he said.
When queried if he will be raising these issues in the Lower House of the upcoming Winter Session of the Parliament, he responded, “Absolutely. Because I am here as a representative of the people. That is my duty. It is my responsibility.”
“I’ll explore all possible spaces available in the Parliament. I am sure that there are procedural issues, but otherwise, if I get a chance, I'm going to flagg off and I'm still praying that these abducted women and children are returned safe and sound,” he added.
